I like Sports?

August has been filled with a few sporting events. We are lucky enough in San Diego to be able to dabble in many different recreational activities. The Padres and The Chargers...both are on again off again, but we secretly love them...even the Padres. To answer the question if I like sports....as long as a beer or two are involved, I sure do!

We went to the Padres game with Heath and Laly. Most of the time was spent not watching the game however. For being Heath's first time at a professional sporting event, we sure didn't really experience anything spectacular...this time the Frew's blame the pre-game mimosas.

For our aniversary, I got Cody tickets to the Chargers game. Football has won his heart these past couple of years, so it was fun to go and enjoy even a pre-season game. After beating the crowds to get in, buying beer at $10 a pop (which should be illegal by the way), we plopped down in our pretty wonderful field level seats. A great way to kick off the season, despite a loss :(

Disclaimer: I swear we don't drink as much as it sounds like we do. We indulge in the sweeter and hoppier things in life.

Year One...Marriage is so not over-rated...

So the 1st anniversary has come and gone. Cody and I have had an incredible beginning to being married...I wouldn 't have asked for anything better. Although I find it strange starting the countdown all over again. This November, we will have officially been together for 9 years. What the heck!? I have been with Cody for more than a third of my life. It's nuts. But now we're at square one? One year? Can I celebrate both accomplishments? I think I will...at least it's an excuse for a night out!

The number one question I've been asked these days? "So, how was your first year of marriage?" Doesn't this question have an obvious answer? Does anyone out there respond "eh, it was okay." I think not. Let us try and be creative. For me, marriage and dating somewhat blend together. How can they not? I barely remember my life without Cody. A better question would be "what's the craziest thing that happened this year?" This would be a start to at least a potentially interesting answer.

There is no way to sum up our year...we have done so much and been so many places.

We celebrated the big numero uno with a trip to Downtown San Diego. Being tourists in our own big city was lots of fun and we enjoyed our 5 star hotel experience. Of course, being greeted with a bottle of champagne on arrival cannot hurt....again our love for wine.

Our b-e-a-utiful 2 bedroom suite

Vanilla scented walls in the elevators...

We ended our wonderful reminiscing weekend with brunch at RBI compliments of getting married their a year prior. A small token for the ridiculous dinero we spent there...we should really have received a trophy instead :)

One year later at Rancho Bernardo Inn. So glad I married this man....in that same spot...
Things haven't changed too much have they?!

Double Peak Park

This is an awesome place. I packed a picnic dinner for us and we set off to a new high. The highest point in coastal north county. On a clear day the ocean is more than visable...

There is LOTS to do here. Sit, stare, hike, play...somewhere to visit and enjoy.

Seriously...go here. We snuck wine...mmmmm

July

July came and went for us. More days on the job search than I can remember and doing my best to keep entertained and busy.

I was husbandless for a week in the great outdoors of Truckee with my family.

Here is what I saw...

Wine and casinos is a perfect way to relax with the Johnson's!

Food Challege Fail

So we can't do it.

We love going out to eat.

We did however last at least two and a half weeks. It's hard not to get busy and caught up in life...eating out here and there is all too natural for us. We are however doing better....trying harder to tame those alcohol cravings...wine calls our name...

So for now, a food tease of some good home cookin'. Enchiladas.....YUM!!

....and yes, accompanied by wine :)

$$ Food $$

Oh the troubles of food!

The first problem: We eat out far too often with our bill being far too much. We tend to eat at sit down restaurants multiple times a week with alcohol being a tad....wait wait....a lot too much alcohol. We really need to start taking advantage of happy hour!

The second problem: This is almost as much of a contributing factor as spending money, but our pantry is overflowing with food. I should seriously do some sort of inventory...it's a joke! There is no reason for my over-used quote of "we have nothing to make."

The hopeful solution: So here we begin a new journey. It was my proclamation that we have enough food to last us 8,000 days that my husband proposed not eating out for the next month...yes our own 30 day challenge!!

We started last Thursday and here is what I have to report so far...(keep in mind if anyone wants to treat us to a meal out, we are in no way opposed to that option!)

Day 1
Thursday: Meatloaf, broccoli, and a Lipton pasta side dish thing.
Day 2
Friday: Dinner out...as a birthday present from friends! Jamroc 101 in Encinitas. This place was so awesome and made me seriously try to convince Cody to take me back. I have so much love for jerk chicken!
Day 3
Saturday: June birthday dinner celebration at the parents house...so much fun!
Day 4
Sunday: Steak, mac-n-cheese, veggie dinner at the in-laws house.
Day 5
Monday: More steak, broccoli, and fries

So there we go! 5 days in and I've managed to only cook twice! I think that would be a success if you ask me. Now don't get me wrong, I love to cook, problem is I severely hate doing dishes...it will never get better. We'll just have to wait and see what the next 25 days have in store for us. I really hope that we can save lots of money by doing this so that we can go out and have a really expensive dinner....I just love going out to eat! I'm really hoping that writing about it will help me stay motivated! Easy, yummy, and decently healthy options are more than welcome. I'll soon be trying one if not all of the yummy recipes featured on this other awesome blog!

So much time and so little to do... Strike that. Reverse it.

We have been so stinking busy lately that we have barely had the chance to spend with each other, but then again we have had some awesome memories to put in the book this past month and a half!

We were able to spend a mini-vacation in Redondo Beach celebrating Sumedh's birthday with some not so good wine and some really great Thai food...and friends!  We also had the chance to sneak to away to Santa Monica and see these awesome kiddos....
We really don't get enough opportunities to spend with the Harshfield family, but we loooove being able to spend some time with Justin and Noelle :)

The Frew kids also got a chance to get an updated picture...Good looking as usual!...
We really do love any opportunity to be near the beach...we're pretty spoiled in fact!

So moving on to St. Patrick's day!  I did the ususal....Oggi's in Temecula with the sisters and anticipated green beer, but they failed us, so no beer of the green kind!  But I did get to spend an awesome day with these handsome and festive boys....

After a little holiday celebration we were off to our real holiday...LONDON!  We are fortunate enough to have had the chance and time to go and visit JD and Asia in England.  With only a week to spend we really had work to see as much as we could.

Cody got pretty tired of taking pictures in the crowd at Buckingham Palace :)

We really miss hanging out with JD and Asia....MOVE HOME!!

So for today...that sums up our March happenings!  Our April updates will be coming up soon and we can't wait to keep shairing our adventures...our Frewventures....!!  Yes, I'm cheesy like that!
